Saki spent a lot of her early childhood confined to a hospital while her doctors diagnosed and treated a chronic condition. She feels a lot of empathy towards the Starsand spirits because, sort of like them, she knows how it feels to be isolated, unheard, and to feel forgotten.
Saki learned to play piano from a young age and now plays the keyboard for her band, Leo/Need. She has a bit of experience teaching her friends how her keyboard works, so would be down to teach others in Starsand.
Saki in attending the local high school! She's a freshman and she volunteers at a lot of clubs. It doesn't feel right to join one when she wants to focus on helping the Fallen Stars and spirits.
Mei was burned by this sort of friendship intensely after the scandal that put her dad in prison. She's only really begun to actively trust in others again after years of being so isolated.
Mei finds herself in the role of a mom in her circles of friends -- especially apparent when she cares for Kiana and Bronya. Being the designated chef of the three certainly doesn't help the vibe.
Not that she minds it anyway.

omg mikale too.
Mikale hires Fallen Stars to work at his cafe. He'll also provide housing if they need it.

Rika got into a prestigious all girl's academy and she's really proud of that accomplishment.
Rika spent over 100 years trapped in a murderous timeloop. She's had a few years to try to move passed it, but the experience still colours a lot of her world views.
Functionally speaking, Mei, while being a top student, ironically stopped being able to attend school for a time. As soon as her 'one long bad day' started, she was thrust into not just fighting the Honkai day in and day out, but a constant scramble to find the one person that made life actually matter to her.
sparkles in your general direction.
Technically the word in her world is "magic user" or "witch," but Sam is a self-proclaimed magical girl thanks to her love of the genre.

yo, same hat.
Sam/tou was sent to kill high profile magic users, who were deemed too dangerous for regular agents. What she didn't realize was that she was being sent with the hope that she'd be killed on the job.

Sam was mentally and emotionally abused by her mother. Sam's mother planned her birth with the intention of using Sam as a magic catalyst to revive her original dead daughter. Her mother manipulated her and controlled her interests, so Sam would have the mindset necessary to create strong magic. Right before arriving in Starsand, Sam had to come to terms with this and break away from her mother's control.
A large portion of Sam's story revolves around the idea of sacrificing one thing for another. In particular, Sam was raised to value self-sacrifice and value herself less than others. She's finished her character arc with the conclusion that she can want to help people for her own sake and value herself equally.
That said, her story did end with Sam trading her life for a miracle. But she had a lot of time to think about it and has no regrets.

Rui's passion is directing plays, but he also acts in them. He'll even go so far as to put on one man shows in the street. He doesn't have to do that much any more though, because he owns a theater in Starsand!
...He often casts himself as the villian when there are other people performing though. Odd.

Rui loves gardening and flowers because they only bring happiness to people. He was part of the Greening club in school back in his home world. He currently spends a lot of his free time in the farm.
Rui is a genius, and one of his main hobbies is robotics. He can make some pretty advanced machines, and even made the robot shrine his spirit companion resides in.
Leo is a reincarnation and that fact led to terrible things happening to the people around him. He's not sure how to handle that fact and his own desires as 'Leo,' especially now that he has the option to be with Elliot again.
her name is taiga. yknow, like a tiger. she was known as 'the palmtop tiger' in school, and feared for her ferocious nature. this girl has broken down sobbing because she couldn't have a normal name, like that girl from a magical girl show named ami!!!
now she's got tiger ears and a tail, because i'm a good person

Because water connects everything metaphorically and Aimee’s power can create illusions, as she finds her sense of agency and what she wants she ends up taking the metaphor too seriously. Her strong emotions to protect her friends starts affecting the world and breaking it and providing her with more of an influence over it than originally intended for any magical girl.
So she tries to selfishly rewrite the “script”.

Tau loves art and loves to draw and paint and create! She takes a sketchbook with her everywhere. Her creations tend to be surrealist in nature.
(how is this one not taken yet?)
Tau loves cats and cat themed things. She never told her parents, but before she contracted with Yuuta, she wanted a pet cat.
She still wants a pet cat.
